The Gospel of Jesus Christ, a Poem

Why Jesus? The Gospel presented in a poem format. Written by yours truly.

Prologue

Here in the empty and the darkness,

God created everything in blessedness,

Even after He made all things good, beauty and true,

Man sinned, bringing back the dark anew.

In the darkness we sinned wantonly,

Some walking proudly and immorally,

Some content with being an imposter,

Looking good outside, dirty in the interior.

Jesus Came

As we were lost in death and judgment

Our sins overwhelming no good thing remnant

Jesus came down on earth from heaven

Born of a virgin, in a world trouble-laden

Veiled in flesh the Godhead seen

Walked among us, setting captives free

His holiness exposing our darkened souls

Thus we held Him guilty for our woes.

Jesus Died

So on the cross Jesus hung

With the world, our shrilling voices rung

Crucify Him, crucify Him we all declared

For His death God hath prepared.

Why did Jesus have to die?

Oh that my sins may be left to lie

On Calvary’s cross my debt He paid

So I the sinner can be remade

Jesus Arose

On the tomb He laid, three days indeed

Not fainted, pretending, for die He did

Yet death and the grave could not hold

For He rose again, alive as foretold

Why did Jesus rise again from the dead?

So that you who believe might not be in dread,

For in His death we die as He did

In His new life we are remade indeed

Jesus Ascended

For forty days Jesus was seen alive

By the disciples and by more than 500 lives

After proving His resurrection, He ascended on high

Entrusting the Holy Spirit to the disciples left by

Before leaving Jesus gave a commission

Go and make disciples, that is your mission

Teach them all things you have been tasked

That’s our marching orders, our King has asked

Jesus Reigns

At the right hand of God, Jesus is there

Interceding for us, on the burdens we bear

Because He is our advocate before the Father

You can draw near, and not stay farther

His Gospel will go throughout the world,

His kingdom will forward with his people, young and old,

Men will bow down to Him, men will rebel

He the only King, that we will tell.

Jesus will Return Again

Why should we care about this Jesus?

Can we not live my life in a way that pleases us?

We care because at first He cared

Giving His life so that from judgment we be spared

His wrath for sinners is due whenever He returns

His judgment is once, there are no other turns

Turn from your sins as long as it is called today

Repent and believe in Jesus Christ this I pray.
